About

About Me

mum lamda.jpg

A graduate in Music, Dance and Drama from the University of Birmingham I have been teaching drama at a Sussex Montessori primary school for fourteen years.  For twelve years I have been a LAMDA teacher focussing on Acting for Performance, Verse and Prose and Musical Theatre examinations, either for solo, duologue or group performances.  Alongside teaching drama I give piano and singing tuition to both children and adults and am happy to enter students for exams using the ABRSM board.

I am a regular church organist and freelance as a vocal soloist for weddings and funerals. Having lived and worked in Australia for many years I worked professionally there as a Narrator and Dancer for a touring Theatre in Education company whose productions were related through the mediums of classical ballet, mime and narration.  I had the opportunity to tour NZ with a Melbourne based theatre company and appeared in various Australian TV productions. More locally I have taught pre-school music programmes and a primary school orchestra.

Teaching drama to children is a passion for me, and a continual source of delight and inspiration.

I teach in the areas of Oxted, Redhill, East Grinstead and Forest Row.  A reasonable radius of these areas will be considered.

About Lamda

Tutoring

Founded in 1861, LAMDA (London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts) is the oldest drama school in the UK. The process of preparing for and succeeding in a LAMDA examination essentially helps students, whatever ages or aspirations, to develop a broad range of skills that will serve them throughout life.

These life skills can include clear communication, self-confidence and teamwork through the creative platforms of drama, literature and music.  There is always a wonderful sense of achievement in succeeding through a LAMDA examination and those students who progress from grade 6 upwards will also earn UCAS points for university.  The whole Lamda process encourages the opportunity to improve self-expression, strengthen memory and most importantly; to have fun!

Certificates tutored are Introductory, Entry, grades 1-6 and the bronze and silver medal grades.  Medal grades can earn UCAS points.

LAMDA exams taught include Verse and Prose, Acting, group acting and Musical Theatre
